Having a Disclosure Policy to promote good Business

Any time you run a site on the internet where you will be doing various transactions for cash it is always a good idea to have a Disclosure Policy. That way your site visitors will always be kept up to date on what you are doing. If you run a personal blog but you have some paid posts that you have written then they may not be exactly on track with what you write on a day to day basis.

Your disclosure policy will let your readers know that you have been paid to either write on a particular topic or to express an opinion on a particular idea. I believe that if you disagree with the slant you are being to paid to write on then you should just reject the offer in the first place. However, if you really want the money then a disclosure policy will let your readers know that the ideas expressed in the writing are not necessarily what you think about that topic.

This will keep your readers happy since they can now easily identify and separate your paid postings from your regular postings. They also know where you stand on certain issues and they will know why you brought up that particular topic on your blog. Disclosure policies also offer some more protection for you because in some cases the paid postings require you to copy and paste some part of an article. If there are fifteen other people doing the same paid post then the issue of copyright may arise. Who is stealing from whom? Your disclosure policy will make it evident that you and the other fifteen people have the right to use that content.
